Yes — you can take a baby on a boat trip in Side. Children aged 0–2 join all our group tours free of charge, and the sheltered Manavgat river delta where our boats swim is far calmer water than the open coast. The honest part: tour boats are not baby-equipped hotels, so picking the right boat and asking one question on WhatsApp before booking matter more than anything else.
Babies sail free — and booking stays flexible
On every Side Boat Trips group tour, infants aged 0–2 travel free; rates for older children are listed on each tour page. Booking is built for parents of small children: instant confirmation, no prepayment — you pay on the boat by cash or card on tour day — and free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. If the night before goes badly, you cancel and lose nothing. Your hotel pickup time is confirmed the day before, and the meeting point is usually your hotel's outer gate or security gate, so there is no trek across town with a baby.
Shade first: why the pirate galleon works
The real problem on a boat day with an infant is sun and heat, not water. Our pirate galleon is a multi-deck wooden ship whose lower decks stay shaded all day — you sit out the brightest hours under a roof while the rest of the family enjoys the open decks. The galleon leaves the Manavgat River pier at 10:00 (our group boats depart from the river, not Side harbor) and anchors in the delta, where the river meets the sea at a shallow, calm swimming spot. One parent swims; the other stays in the shade with the baby a few meters away. To be honest about it: the treasure hunt, tug of war and face painting are designed for ages 3 and up, so a baby is a happy spectator, not a participant. The galleon sails on set days of the week — current days are shown in the booking calendar.
The calmest water: river and lake instead of open sea
If you want to avoid waves almost entirely, judge the water, not the boat. The Green Canyon tour spends around five hours on a flat mountain reservoir — lake water, no swell — with soft drinks included on the boat and lunch at a lakeside restaurant. Note that alcohol is not allowed on this tour and it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The Dolphin Island trip starts with a slow cruise down the Manavgat River past turtles resting on branches, and its main swim stop is that same shallow river-sea junction; life jackets are available for every age. It is, however, a long day — roughly eight hours door to door, with stretches on open sea — and not every infant handles that equally well. We also never guarantee dolphin sightings. Families who want full control over pace and shade book the private gulet or luxury yacht instead, where the route, the timing and even a shift toward evening are your call.
What is NOT standard on board — ask before you book
The honesty section: baby seats, high chairs, cots and changing tables are not standard equipment on our boats. Some things can be arranged for a specific boat and date, others simply cannot — and when we do not know, we say "we don't know" instead of guessing. Message us on WhatsApp before booking with your baby's age and what you need; we check with the crew and give you a straight answer. One more honest warning: Suluada, the "Turkish Maldives", has very little natural shade on its beach. With a child under two we usually steer families toward the galleon or the canyon instead. For sun in general, common sense is enough: a hat, the shaded lower deck during the brightest hours, no long spells in direct light.
A realistic timeline with a baby
Typical pickup times (the exact time is confirmed the day before): Side center 09:00, Kumköy 08:55, Sorgun 08:50, Çolaklı 08:40, Gündoğdu 08:30, Kızılot 08:20. The galleon sails at 10:00; the Dolphin Island trip returns you to your hotel around 17:30. Lunch is cooked on board on the sea tours — grilled chicken, rice and salad on the dolphin boat, plus a children's menu on the galleon.
FAQ: baby on a boat trip in Side
Is the boat trip really free for a baby?
Yes. Children aged 0–2 join all group tours free of charge. Just tell us the age when booking so the crew knows who is coming.
Are there baby seats or cots on board?
Not as standard, no. Ask us on WhatsApp before booking — we confirm with the crew what is possible on your boat and date, and if something is not available we say so plainly.
Which tour is calmest for an infant?
Green Canyon, because most of it is on a flat lake, followed by the river sections of the dolphin trip. For shade, the multi-deck pirate galleon is the strongest choice.
What if our baby is unwell on the morning of the tour?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, and since there is no prepayment there is no refund to chase. For a same-day problem, message us on WhatsApp and we will find the fairest solution we can.
Browse all Side boat tours and send us your baby's age on WhatsApp — we will tell you straight which boat fits your family.
